What to expect

About-trees-top-dark.jpg

Dr. Meldrum respects that health behavior change happens over time; therefore, visits to Aerial Integrative Health differ from conventional medicine visits. Rather than expecting a single visit to explain your symptoms and receive a treatment plan (often a prescription), Dr. Meldrum offers compassionate, ongoing, one-on-one care to help you reach your optimal health.

What does this look like?

First, you’ll complete an initial intake form, participate in a comprehensive consultation (via telemedicine or in person), and undergo any necessary exams and laboratory testing. To initiate this collection of data, all new patients must schedule an Initial Consultation, which can last up to 90 minutes.

Respecting the intricate connection between mind and body, Dr. Meldrum conducts patient visits with a mind-body medicine framework. This means that physical, mental, social, emotional, environmental, behavioral, and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing will all be considered. If indicated, laboratory testing will be ordered. Using the gathered data and results from any diagnostic testing, a personalized strategic health plan will be created.

Follow-up visits last 30 minutes and treatment services offered include botanical medicine, nutritional supplements, dietary counseling, and a variety of techniques such as biofeedback, breathwork, and mindfulness to bring awareness, balance, and resilience to the nervous system. Additionally, Dr. Meldrum respects the power of touch and includes indicated physical medicine, such as myofascial and naturopathic adjustments, muscle energy stretching, hydrotherapy, and postural exercises.

THERAPEUTIC ORDER

Naturopathic doctors work to identify underlying causes of illness rather than just treat and suppress symptoms. Dr. Meldrum develops personalized treatment plans to treat the root cause or causes of your symptoms and uses the naturopathic Therapeutic Order™ to organize your treatment plans. The Therapeutic Order™ identifies the natural order in which all therapies should be applied to provide the greatest benefit with the least potential for damage or harm. While Dr. Meldrum always works to establish healthy foundations, it may be necessary to start higher on the therapeutic order depending on a patient’s current health status. Dr. Meldrum will refer to other health practitioners as medically necessary.

Our Philosophy

Like a tree firmly rooted to the earth as it grows toward the sun, one must be grounded in the basics of a subject to achieve their goals with expertise. Parents who are already grounded with a strong foundation of health behaviors serve as the best teachers and examples for their kids, who will then form and habituate health behaviors that contribute to their own optimal health and resilience.

“The greatest medicine of all is teaching people how not to need it.”
